Your work on this unit will look a bit different to the others. Instead of tasks to learn about different things, you'll work with a staff member to practice before you work on the outcome on your own.
For this outcome, you will need to listen to what a customer wants and plan a holiday for them. You will need to:
Work out who is going, what their budget is and what they are looking for
Research some destinations that they might want to go to
Recommend accommodation, activities and places to visit.
Produce a travel itinerary.
A travel itinerary is a detailed plan which tells them where to go, how much things cost and what they can do.
To prepare for your assessment, you should work with a staff member to do a practice:
Plan flights to the destination.
Use a map or the Visit _______ website to suggest where in the country they could visit on holiday. Find three attractions (places to visit) and three activities (things to do) on their holiday.
Find accommodation which fits their budget and needs. You should write down:
what the accommodation is called
its address
facilities
the type of room they’re staying in
the board (full board, half board, bed and breakfast, self catering/room only)
the cost of the accommodation.
Find out about the amenities in the area. These could include:
Ways to get around
Shops that might be useful for them
Where they could get help (e.g. tourist information or pharmacy)
Places they could shop or eat
Plan a travel itinerary for their visit. This should include their travel, what they could do each day and how much things are.
Once you have completed a practice, you will do one on your own for your assessment. Your teacher will pick a customer for you from the other cards.
